We have recently launched the 'Stay Safe' campaign to raise awareness and help combat the growing concern of drink spiking.

According to a documentary aired by Channel 4s Dispatches, a shocking statisitc of one in four women have had their drinks spiked.

We are currently working towards getting our Drink Spike Dectector Strips dispersed all over the city.

We are working in conjuction with The Roofie Foundation, The Royal Liverpool Hospital and Liverpool Hope University to help raise awareness and lessen these shocking statistics.

As many of you will be aware this years 2010 Dancing on Ice champion was Hayley Tamaddon, who has been celebrating her accomplishments on the ice this week. As a favourite to win from early on in the competition, Hayley continued to wow the audience and judges alike each week with anything from jaw dropping fast moves to flying over the ice.

Hayley tried, tested and discussed 2 Love My Lips with our founder Tracy last year when we first launched our lip gloss. Impressed with the combination of safety and beauty Hayley favoured our Charismatic Cherry gloss the most!

Our lip gloss and drug detector are getting people talking, and we’re thrilled that our gloss range is going down a storm. We are getting invited to some inspiring events to help heighten awareness for our unique product, most recently a hair fashion show held by hair academies in Merseyside.

2 Love My Lips were invited to attend the annual Training Plus UK Salon Competition in Liverpool last week – a popular hair fashion show which was this year themed around the four seasons. Up and coming stylists got to show off their skills in front of an audience of fashion and beauty fans before being evaluated by a panel of judges.

We went along to support the event that promotes the support of young talent in the North West., as well as experience some gorgeous fashion styles! With a large selection of the audience being young women, we were also able to bring the subject of date rape to many people’s attention – and of course let them experiment with the range of colours available in our lip glosses too!

We are thrilled to say our gloss and detection test combo went down excellently! TPUK representative Tracy Galvin said that we offer an “excellent product”- and we have been invited to visit two of the hair academies included in the competition to further discuss the product and the risks associated with date rape.

Date Rape Awareness

'Following yesterday’s calls from the UN for worldwide governments to address drink spiking and drug-related sex crimes, campaigning anti-drink-spiking cosmetic brand 2LoveMyLips states the UK Government needs to do more to prevent date and drug rape incidents. The UN report published by its International Narcotics Control Board called for all governments to implement a 2009 resolution of the Commission on Narcotic drugs ‘to combat the misuse of pharmaceutical products to commit sexual assault ‘as soon as possible’ and to be ‘vigilant’ about the worrying increase in date rape drug abuse’.

Tracy Whittaker is Managing Director of 2 Love My Lips, “The United Nations has called for governments worldwide to give greater attention to fighting drug abuse, especially the so called date-rape drugs whose use, they claimed is on the rise.” 2 Love My Lips products come with a free ‘drink-spiking tester kit’ and the firm has been promoting the awareness of drink-spiking and the potential hazards of drug rape through the misuse of GHB and Ketamine since launching in October 2009.

Graham Rhodes, Founder of the Roofie Foundation the UK’s only dedicated drink-spiking and drug-related sexual assault helpline and expert court witness on the subject of drink-spiking supports calls for more action to be taken by the UK Government. Mr Rhodes added, “For the last fifteen years The Roofie Foundation has been calling on the British Government to do just what the UN calls for now. Currently there are no UK governmental initiatives to help combat the problem of drink-spiking and drug rape.”

The Foundation stated that use of its free helpline service suggests that whilst drug rape continues to be a major concern, drink-spiking for reasons other than sexual abuse is on the rise and presents a growing problem for both men and women of all age groups. '
